코호리 유키요 어드바이저_ ’진심’은 나라를 넘어선다.
홋카이도에서 태어나 한국에서 살게 된 지도 벌써 9년이 지났다. 나와 잘 맞았던 한국에서 여러 가지 일들을 해왔었고, 지금은 이곳 ‘지금’에서 행복하게 일을 하고 있다.
기자의 신분으로 처음 '지금'을 방문하였을 때, 내가 모르던 아름다운 세계를 들여다본 것 같아 너무 설레는 마음에 그날 밤 일기장에 ‘언젠가는 꼭 이곳에서 일하고 싶다’라고 썼던 기억이 난다. 하지만 언어적 문제로 함께 할 수 없을 것 같다는 생각을 했고 다른 일들을 해오면서 좋아하는 '지금'의 공간을 자주 방문을 하며 인연을 이어 나갔다.
어느 날, “이곳에서 일하고 싶다는 글을 일기에 적은 적이 있어요"라고 완벽하지 않은 언어로 이야기하며 고백을 했을 때 감사하다고 기쁘게 웃어주셨고, 며칠 후. "유키요씨가 예전부터 우리를 좋아하는 마음을 가지고 있다면 함께해요"라는 말을 들었다. 생각하지도 못한 대답에 너무 설레었고 기뻤다.
나는 한국어를 더 열심히 공부하며 일을 함께 하게 되었고, 예전 일기장에 적었던 '지금'에서 일하고 싶다는 목표는 현실이 되었다. 모국어가 아닌 언어로 상담을 진행하다 보니 부족한 언어적 표현들이 많지만 이해해 주시는 부분에 감사하며 오히려 더 열심히 설명하고 싶어지는 순간들이 많다. 그렇게 상담을 받으시는 많은 손님들과의 인연을 이어가며 ‘어드바이저’라는 이름에 맞게 성장하고자, 언제나 노력해 왔다.
단순히 ‘언어’를 넘어서 문화적인 부분에서 실례하지 않기 위해, 항상 긴장하고 의식하고 있다. 브랜드에서는 보이는 것이 다가 아닌 많은 부분들에 신경 쓰고 있다는 것을 알게 되었고, 나 역시 이곳에서 할 수 있는 일들이 더욱 많다는 것을 알게 되어 다른 업무의 영역들도 서서히 넓혀가고 있다.

Already 9 years have passed since I, born at Hokkaido, settled in Korea, the country which befitted with me and so where I have worked on many things. Now, I am enjoying my work here at “JIGUM.”
When I first visited “JIGUM” as a journalist, I felt as though I looked into a beautiful world which I had never known before. That night, I remember, I wrote in my diary: “I would like to work here someday at all rates.” However, I also thought it could be impossible because of language problems, and so I have worked on other things while frequenting the space of “JIGUM” that I like so as to keep a relationship with the group.
IOne day, I confessed with my imperfect language that “I once wrote in my diary that I would like to work here,” and they smiled at me out of gratitude. Days later, I was told that “Yukiyo, if you have liked us from before, join us.” This unexpected answer made me so excited and happy.
Then I joined the group and studied Korean harder. The goal written in my diary of working at “JIGUM” became a reality. Although my verbal expressions are often a little awkward when I give consultation as a non-native speaker, customers thankfully understand me, and so I come to try to explain more heartily in many cases. Keeping relationships with such many customers consulting with me, I have endeavored to grow as befits the title of “Advisor.”
I am always wary and conscious of not committing a mistake in a cultural aspect beyond the simple matter of “language.” I came to know that JIGUM takes care of more than what appears in its brand products, and also that I have more things to do here. So I am gradually extending my roles in other areas of work as well.
